Investigative Report
Reporter
I led a multi-year investigation into the Bureau of Land Management's Adoption Incentive Program, uncovering a pipeline to slaughter for hundreds if not thousands of federally protected wild horses and burros as well as fraud and abuse of the taxpayer-funded program. My work led to a front-page 2021 New York Times Exposé.

Ghostwriter
Ghostwrote and placed an opinion piece bylined by Project Coyote's Texas State Coordinator, Karin Saucedo, addressing the seasonal uptick in coyote sightings across North Texas. The piece breaks down what's actually happening during pup season — why sightings spike this time of year, what "escorting" behavior near greenbelts really means, and practical, science-based guidance for coexisting safely with local wildlife. Placed in the Dallas Morning News and syndicated to Yahoo Lifestyle, extending its reach to a national audience during a season when human-coyote encounters are top of mind for many communities.
Press Release: "Wild Horse Coalition Files New Lawsuit to Stop BLM's Unlawful Eradication of Iconic Wyoming Herds" — American Wild Horse Conservation
Wrote a national press release announcing a federal lawsuit filed by American Wild Horse Conservation and the Animal Welfare Institute to stop the Bureau of Land Management from permanently removing three historic wild horse herds from Wyoming's Checkerboard region — more than 3,000 federally protected animals. The release detailed the legal basis for the suit, including a prior Tenth Circuit ruling that found the BLM's underlying land-use decisions "arbitrary and capricious," and incorporated statements from AWHC's and AWI's leadership. Framed the release to connect the legal filing to the broader 14-year history of litigation between AWHC and the BLM over these herds, and to the public mobilization, including a 70,000-signature petition, that preceded it. Within a day of publication, a case update was added noting that the BLM had canceled the scheduled roundup, giving the lawsuit time to be heard in court.
